I simply cannot believe it - the Summer concludes and it's time to welcome 2022-2023. This Summer your leadership has been super busy attending CSTA National 2022, working on the National Governors Association Pledge follow up recommendation, attending PD, and of course planning our experience for the upcoming school year.
I wanted to make a note about some formatting changes for this year. We're shortening our meetings to one hour and will put an emphasis on information sharing and problems of practice. If you're like me and my new friends at the GenCyber Teacher Training held at the University of New Haven, one of our favorite moments is when we're simply sharing ideas, resources, and pedagogical practices with each other. As such we're going to harness that and channel it for our chapter meetings.
Join us this year by adding our Chapter meetings to your calendars, simply click on the meeting and "add to calendar." Let's grow together, lets share together, lets stop homebrewing our solutions and start crowd sourcing together.
I eagerly await you in our September 12th meeting!
~Christopher and the Board
π Our Meeting Calendarπ
This year our themes are all about building community, offering relevant professional development, and uplifting our educators. Each meeting will have time for the Computer Science Praxis preparation, opportunities for members to share best practices, and more! Take a look below at a VERY brief view of what we've put together.
If you know of a great curriculum/vendor/resource you think we should highlight during a meeting, please send that our way.
Share your reflections on teaching during the pandemic and be entered to win one of 135 prizes ranging from $50-$500! The Connecticut COVID-19 Education Research Collaborative (CCERC) is conducting this confidential Remote Learning Teacher Survey on behalf of the Connecticut State Department of Education as part of the audit of remote learning required by the Connecticut General Assembly.
The main event is on November 12th, 2022 and this year we are hosted by the University of Massachusetts at Amherst College of Education. A book club will lead up to the big event with social activities the evening of November 11th, 2022. The main conference will begin with our keynote speaker at 10am on November 12th, 2022, and a variety of workshops will run until 5:15pm. Our theme is CS for Social Good. Registration and request for proposals are now open, don't miss out on early-bird pricing! CSTA-Plus members will receive a special gift on arrival.
Remember, your Connecticut Computer Science Teacher's Association loves you! Thanks for everything you do!
