Congratulations to NCWIT 2021 Connecticut Aspirations Educator Award winner Jamie Lang
Congratulations are in order for South Windsor Computer Science Teacher, and South Windsor Teacher of the Year 2019, Jamie Lang for receiving the 2021 Connecticut NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Educator Award. We reached out to Jamie to hear her story and gather some great tips you can use to improve your computer science presence in school for young womxn and the student body as a whole.
To quote Jamie, “Computing doesn’t exist in a vacuum”, and her quest to find authentic learning has led to great success. What distinguishes her for this award is her commitment to bringing representation into the classroom.

CONNECTICUT STEM FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 2021
The Connecticut STEM Foundation is excited to announce its scholarship program in 2021 for Connecticut students aspiring to STEM careers.
Two $2,500 scholarships will be offered in 2021.
These scholarships will be awarded to applicants who participated in the 2021 CT STEM Fair. Deadline for receipt of applications is Friday, June 4, 2021.
As in the past, CT STEM Foundation will offer two summer scholarships to undergraduate students planning to attend a college/university summer STEM course, a summer internship program, an informal science education program or a tuition high school summer education program. Depending upon tuition and expenses, up to $500 is granted for each scholarship. One is awarded to a rising sophomore, junior or senior high school student. The other is
awarded to a middle school student. Deadline for receipt of applications is Friday, June 11, 2021.

CSTA (Computer Science Teachers Association) New England has a call for proposals for the October 16, 2021 CSTA Conference. Do you have a great CS idea? Are you interested in networking with other CS teachers? Please mark your calendar for the conference and consider proposing to present.
Programming concepts in Python. Using pandas library to manipulate and explore a dataset. Create simple visualizations using Matplotlib. This is a 2-day workshop.
Participants will need a Google account to use Google Colab.
