If you're reading this you've probably started your school year.  To that I say, "great luck!"  We know how hard it is to upgrade your CS offerings while also actively teaching and your local chapter is working hard this year to ensure you can grow without stress.  We have the CSTA New England Conference October 20th (register now!) and Chapter Meetings (see below!) are always filled with opportunities to reach out and connect with each other.  We've upgraded to Zoom this year so you'll have the opportunity to network via chat (and perhaps break out rooms) to foster more opportunities for mentorship and growth.

Please consider adding our meetings to your Google Calendar now so you have them all ready to go.  Remember as well, we're in this field for the students, every student has the capacity to learn and every student deserves great Computer Science education.  Be the change you wish to see in the world!

~Christopher Kerr, President of CT CSTA.

Teaching the Genome Generation
Curriculum Development Project

Looking to bring health data analysis into your classrooms? The Jackson Laboratory’s Genomic Education team is looking for 2-3 high school computer science teachers to collaborate on a curriculum development project using the  All of Us research program and database, supported by the NIH.  We are looking for teachers to participate in focus group conversations with us, provide guidance and feedback on activity design and development, and to pilot lessons and activities in their classrooms during the 2023-2024 academic year.  Stipends are available to participating teachers.  If interested or to learn more, please contact Sarah Wojiski (sarah.wojiski@jax.org), Director of Education, or Alexa Wnorowski (alexa.wnorowski@jax.org), Genomics Educator, The Jackson Laboratory.  To learn more about our current genetics and genomics curriculum and teacher professional development, please visit our Teaching the Genome Generation webpage.
